Life sometimes needs a pause — a moment to breathe, to think, to realign

I have informed the homeschool community that the free Dr Lai's weekly IGCSE Math lessons will be cancelled. This decision comes from two important reasons.
First, I want to devote my full focus to creating the Hong Kong Homeschool Free Worksheets project. Homeschool mums deserve well‑structured, high‑quality teaching resources that truly support their children’s learning. This is a significant project, and Paris and I must devote our time, energy, and heart to create something that can genuinely support homeschool families.
Second, I need space to pause and rethink the meaning of kindness. Last year, while helping the homeschool community form a formal association, I invested deeply — using personal connections, contributing personal funds, and giving my full effort to support families in need. Yet, despite these intentions, someone entered the process under the banner of “supporting marginalized families” and “volunteering,” only to take donation money as personal profit and hide behind this slogan to gain trust, while using manipulative tactics to damage the work.
This experience forces me to ask myself: Can kindness become a doorway for harm when given without boundaries? Is it possible to give so much that we accidentally invite trouble into our own lives? Where is the line between generosity and self‑protection? And how do we stay kind without becoming vulnerable to those who exploit kindness?
These are questions I must sit with. Not to stop being kind — but to learn how to be kind wisely.
For now, I choose to pause. To think. To rebuild my strength and clarity. And to continue serving the homeschool community in a way that is sustainable, healthy, and true.
I believe time and wisdom will give me the answer when the moment is right.
