Professor Dr. Xiaodong Tang

Prof. Xiaodong Tang completed his Ph.D. in 2003 at the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences, Heriot - Watt University (UK). His doctoral research focused on semiconductor materials for optoelectronic applications. Subsequently, he engaged in postdoctoral research at CNRS - CRHEA (France). In 2005, Dr. Tang joined the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), assuming the position of research professor in Hundred Talents Program, CAS. Since 2006, he has been appointed as a full professor at East China Normal University. Prof. Tang has successively served as Deputy Director and Executive Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Polar Materials and Devices of the Ministry of Education (2007 - 2021), and Head of the Department of Electronic Science (2020 - 2024).

Boasting nearly two decades of teaching experience spanning both undergraduate and postgraduate education. He is intimately familiar with the curriculum design of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching systems within the disciplines of physics, Electronic Engineering (EE), and materials science and Engineering.

Throughout his career, Professor Tang has been actively engaged in nurturing the next generation of talent. He has guided undergraduates and postgraduates in scientific and technological innovation practice projects, fostering an environment of creativity and hands-on learning. His dedication and outstanding mentorship have been widely recognized. Professor Tang has been honored with more than 10 national, ministerial and provincial - level awards. Including the National 1st Prize in the China National University Students’ Opt-Sci-Tech Competition, a testament to his remarkable influence and the high - quality guidance he provides to his students.

Prof. Tang has made significant contributions in the fields of applied physics and material science, with over 100 SCI - indexed papers to his credit. His academic achievements have been widely recognized within the relevant scientific communities. He has participated in the activities of the Chinese Optical Society, serving as a Committee Member of the Optical Materials section since 2007. In this capacity, he played an important role in promoting the development and communication within the optical materials research area in China. Moreover, Prof. Tang took the initiative to enhance international scientific cooperation. He was the coordinator of the Sino-France workshops on functional materials and devices since (2009-2013). These workshops provided valuable platforms for researchers from both countries to exchange ideas, share research findings, and explore potential collaborative opportunities in the field of functional materials and devices.
